Adults refer to animals or humans that have reached their full growth and development. For humans adults have implications that are based on social and legal concepts. Legal adult means a person attains the age of adulthood and is considered to be independent, self sufficient and accountable. They are also known as a "major". The general consensus is that the minimum age that a person can legally become an adult is 18. But, it can vary depending on legal rights and countries and also on the psychological state.

When a human reaches full physical and intellectual maturity, this is known as adulthood. The typical age for adulthood is age 21 or 20. In general, middle age begins around 40 years old, and is followed by around 60. Adulthood is divided into three phases: young adulthood (18-mid-30s), mid-30s-mid-60s, and the final stage of adulthood, mid-60s to the time of death. It is the time to complete physical development by the time we reach the early years of adulthood (20-40s) however, your weight and height could be a little higher. When we are young our physical capabilities are at their peak which includes the strength of our muscles, our reaction speed sensors, as well as cardiac functioning.
